Why This Role Matters

TL;DR – We’re looking for a Lead Customer Success Manager who doesn’t just understand energy — but has lived it. Whether as an energy consultant working on client projects or as an energy manager who has built an EnMS yourself: you know what it takes to reduce consumption, comply with regulations, and align internal stakeholders.
At ecoplanet, you’ll combine your hands-on expertise with the technological capabilities of the ecoplanet product — working closely with customers, as a true partner, and delivering real impact.

Your Responsibilities

  • Proactive management of a portfolio of mid-sized customers — from onboarding and adoption to long-term partnership
  • Development of individual “Energy Champion” roadmaps per customer — aligned with regulatory requirements (e.g., EED, ISO 50001, EnMS obligations) and each customer’s ambition to optimize energy costs, in connection with their use of the ecoplanet cockpit
  • Conducting business reviews and translating platform capabilities into measurable customer outcomes
  • Close collaboration with customer-side energy managers — becoming their key sparring partner
  • Acting as the internal voice of the customer — providing structured insights to Product, Sales, and Leadership
  • Building and further developing a small CSM team while helping create scalable playbooks
  • Identifying expansion opportunities within existing accounts in close coordination with the Sales team

What Sets You Up for Success

Must-haves:

  • Energy background – one of the following paths:
    • Energy Consultant: 3–5+ years in energy consulting, with experience analyzing and optimizing energy consumption for industrial or mid-sized clients
    • Energy Manager: Proven experience building or operating an Energy Management System (EnMS) on the company side — ideally including ISO 50001 implementation or BAFA audit processes
  • Regulatory expertise: Knowledge of relevant energy management system requirements (EED, ISO 50001, BAFA, etc.)
  • Hands-on mindset: You work directly with customers — this is not a purely strategic oversight role, but one with real operational responsibility
  • Strong communication skills: You can distill complexity — whether speaking with energy managers or executive leadership
  • Fluent German (C2), strong English

Strong Plus / Highly Relevant:

  • Leadership experience: Experience leading or mentoring a team — you set high standards and bring people along
  • Experience using digital energy tools
  • Experience in an early-stage or high-growth startup
